ASK LONG BEACH SHELTER TO OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!

Page Title

Long Beach is OUT of space and dogs are being killed for space and without being listed or alerting the community. We are deeply concerned. Los Angeles Shelters are open to the public on weekends and there are many animals being adopted. Please click on the link to ask them to open. SAMPLE TEXT BELOW: copy, paste, edit, sign up (takes seconds) and send.

Council Members,

I am requesting that the Long Beach Shelter be immediately opened to the public, at least on the weekends. Kennels are full and animals are being killed for space, and without being listed, as is normally the case. We expect more from our shelter. Countless adopters are turned away or can't get appointments, no one answers the phone and emails go unanswered. Dogs are being confined in kennels with little exercise and with no way to find a home. Even people calling or showing up to surrender stray dogs are turned away by staff saying "the shelter is full." At this time when people need more help, and when the animals need to be seen, this is not acceptable. The long closure should be over. The community pays taxes for an open intake shelter. Please ask the city manager to open the shelter now to give the animals a chance to live and the community the help that they need. Thank you.
